Help a confused American with UK school?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-22 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
I'm applying to a grad school in the UK, as per the recommendation of a professor. But I'm really confused about one part on the application process. It's this:

"Please include the following: your grades in mathematics and English at O-level/GCSE or equivalent; your subjects and grades at A Level or equivalent."

I tried to google this, but want to confirm my conversion into American terms. Is it asking me for my high school grades? O-level refers to British "college" right? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

GCSE = 15-16

A-Levels = 17-18

Usually O levels/GSCE are your final high school GPA OR your SAT/ACT score and A levels are your college GPA. But it depends on the university you are applying to. Check their website because most of them have it spelled out in their international registration/admissions FAQ. If not, you will have to contact their registrations department for clarification.

Also, some universities have a special international application, so double check you're using the right application.

Thanks for the help. I'll double check, but since the wording mentions "or equivalent" I figured that it implied everyone. The actual question beyond that is asking me to list my math and English courses individually, so I didn't know if I have to go way back to freshman year of high school, or just junior year or higher or something.
