In this case, probably because if you know which characters die, you know not to get invested in them, and that takes away most of the point of killing them off at all.

(And in other cases, spoilers for a twist ending can foster the feeling that the story is 'leading you on' in an annoying way, make you analyze the twist too carefully, and then it stops making sense. I know I hated The Sixth Sense, for example, probably because it was spoiled for me.)

I might just be weird. I still get invested in characters even when I know they're going to die. I don't choose whether or not to get invested. It just happens or it doesn't.

And I find things like The Sixth Sense even more interesting when I know the twist ending because I like to look for clues.

For me, I like both. I loved not knowing for The Sixth Sense and being all "OMG, what?!" when the reveal was made. I then watched it again so that I could look for clues and the lead up to it. Both are good ways to watch, but if I'm spoiled, I miss the former and jump straight to the latter, and I don't like that. I like getting the full experience of both options.

I understand preferring to have that first experience but the lengths that people go to in order to avoid spoilers are always surprising to me. It's nice when I'm surprised but I just don't care enough to go out of my way to ensure that it will happen. And then there's the fact that there are people who are against warnings for things that will likely trigger a panic attack in some people but who will tell you to kill yourself for not including a spoiler warning.

I do go out of my way to ensure it will happen. At least for some shows/movies. Tumblr savior/xkit are my friends. And I have gotten pretty good at seeing the name of a show and stopping myself from reading. However, I'm also for people warning for common triggers. I don't understand why taking the 30 seconds to warn for triggers and spoilers is such a big deal. It takes me/others little time and could help others a lot. (Then again, I would also never tell someone to kill themselves, so it's not like I'm one of the people you are talking about anyway. Rude people are rude, no matter which side of the spoiler issue they are on.)

You last line is very true.

Just to be clear, I'm not trying to tell you you're wrong. I've just noticed that I seem to be different from most of the people I come across on this issue.
