But it's the reluctant hero (who lost his daughter in the initial rush) escorts her across hill and dale dodging death and bonding because she got bitten by zombies but still walking about and being snarky and destination claims to be able to use her for THE CURE.

Unfortunately, THE CURE isn't as sure a thing as they claimed and more than that girl will die in the attempt so Reluctant Hero kills everybody, rescues her and lies about it. ...Possibly I should call him Reluctant Protagonist rather than hero, but yes. All very morally grey and father-daughter survivor stuff.
