I've never heard an artist complain/being creeped about someone drawing their OCs. Most of them *love* it, in fact.

I know confronting people can be hard, but I'm sure if you do decide to show them the artist will appreciate it.

You should do it! I've never seen an artist who is not flattered by people drawing their OCs. I've seen people bond and make friendships over drawings like that, so I think you have nothing to lose!

(Anonymous) 2014-02-22 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Doooo iiiiit! They'll most likely be super flattered! Also, the more you push yourself to do stuff like this, the easier it'll get to do it in the future. Baby steps, OP!

Unless you make them do creepily OOC things or things from the original owner's squick list I doubt very much that they'd be creeped out - quite on the contrary, probably.

Awh, OP! Honestly, I think a majority of artists with fandom OCs would *love* it and it would make their day (especially if they're really anxious about sharing fandom OCs in the first place, like me, haha). If the artist seems like a chill person, then I say go for it! =>

I'm a writer/rper not an artist but I love my oc's drawn by others!

Dude, all I know is, a stranger could draw stick figures of my OCs riding a dinosaur and I would be delirious with happiness just because somebody gave a damn about my head people. "Creepy" would be the last thought on my mind. Unless the dinosaur was actually a dildo. Dildos don't make the best first impression.

You should give it a shot. Maybe if you're still nervous you could ask them if they'd mind if you drew their OCs.

Unless you're planning on drawing smut of self-insert romance, I can't imagine that would bother an artist. (And even those examples would only bother some artists.) Go for it. Draw things!

I can all but guarantee that if you make someone fanart of their characters, they will be delighted. Go for it!

I frequently see fic authors linking to illustrations that others made for their fic and squeeing all over them. I think most people would be flattered. They'd probably still be flattered and excited even if the way you drew the OCs wasn't how the author imagined them (and it's not like you couldn't make new drawings to better match the author's vision).

I can't speak for artists, but as a writer? I LOVE IT when people draw art of my fandom stuff. LOVE IT. GIVE IT ALL TO ME.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-23 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I wish I could say "THIS" harder than I can!

I draw a webcomic and write books. I'd give anything if someone would express enough interest to do me some fan art. ;_;

(Anonymous) 2014-02-23 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
No, Artist's love it when you get invested in their creations.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-23 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
if in doubt just drop them a message saying hey I really love Foo and Bar, do you mind if I draw them doing thing? odds are it'll make their day.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-23 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Are you me OP? Im very shy and for some reason I have a harder time trying to talk with people online than IRL

(Anonymous) 2014-02-23 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
DO IT! There is nothing I love more than people drawing my OCs. I print them out (if I can't get the original) frame them and hang them up around my place. THAT'S how much I love it. DO IT!
