I actually didn't care about the older version of Hannibal - he didn't really make that much of an impression on me, like he wasn't really convincingly scary or evil.

The newer one, I think, draws that "DIEDIEDIE" reaction from me because he's contrasted with Will Graham (who seems to be having the worst day/year/life ever), and Hannibal is actively attacking/hurting Will.
