This is seriously the first time I've heard Hopkins Hannibal described as handsome, and I'm old enough to remember all the hype when that movie came out. Everybody was going on and on about how scary he was, and I never saw it until it came out on video for some reason, but he made me laugh a lot and I never trusted other people's opinions on scariness again, lol. Mikkelsen isn't to everyone's taste, either, it's just surprising to me to hear this now. I think all the adaptations have cut out some of the weirder book stuff like the extra finger and the red eyes, but the show has done a lot more to portray him as sexually appealing than anything else did, with a speedo scene and more coming up, even. Hopkins is only in SOTL for something like 15 minutes, and I've always found him way over the top in that part, especially since I got into the show, so I love SOTL for Clarice's and Catherine's stories. They're a lot more compelling than the killers they're dealing with. Ted Levine was good, though.
