The secret seems to be referring to complaints about depictions of men in women's media (e.g. Edward Cullen.)

My experience is that the fairly sexist flavor of Twilight hate didn't really have much to do with Cullen, and everything to do with the so-called "feminization" of science fiction and fantasy, which should be still worshiping Clarke and Tolkien. (I don't have the link to that claim, but I'm not making this up.) It's an evergreen complaint that puts on new cosplay every few years, I think last year was the "fake geek girl."

The latest old-guard embarrassment this week was, "The problem is that the ‘vocal minority’ of insects who make up the new generation of writers don’t scramble for the shadows when outside lights shines on them—they bare their pincers and go for the jugular."
