It's starting to happen to Ymir/Christa too, which I really hate because I adore them :( But way too often anymore they're just like...the "token" lesbian couple that people are shipping to make themselves feel better so the quality and in-characterness of the work is going way way down and it's depressing.

I love Ymir/Christa too, but I thankfully haven't felt that the fandom has been overrun by their fans like it has for some of pairings and characters. But, yes, I definitely get what you mean about them being the 'token' lesbian couple, and the overall in-characterness of their stuff being crap for the most part (Waiting for fandom to realize that Christa isn't actually happy and angelic, and that the relationship between them isn't all rainbows and sunshine.)

With characters, it was Mikasa for me. Her stans were the worst, last I looked at the fandom.
