There are people who watch it for something other than the angst? *Baffled*

I admit HIMYM is actually one of the funnier sitcoms for me - I love it's back-and-forth timeline games, narrator lampshadings and stylistic tricks - but it wouldn't be enough if I didn't really care about the character arcs. (on the other hand, I find most serious drama fairly boring on an emotional, character level.)

There's a great theory bouncing around that The Mother is actually dead by 2030. It has some (huge) holes, admittedly, but it's weirdly persuasive precisely because the show's general tone and, like, thematic vibe feel like they could just about support it.

If anyone else is way, way too serious about comedies, friend me! (I'm desperate. No one wants to talk about this stuff.)
