The difference between losing a loved one and no longer beign able to see someone you admire doing something he loves is because, with the former, you're losing a person, and people die. You grow up knowing that people die (unless you're very, very unlucky). But you don't grow up realizing that ideas can die. So you have to reconcile yourself to that thought first before you can actually start grieving the idea. Or I'm reading this wrong.
