I didn't get far in Morrowind. I just sucked so fucking much at that game. Apparently it's a beautiful, great game, so maybe the story is intriguing or the quests are super cool, but honestly...I couldn't get over how difficult it was to hit something. Anything. lmao. Maybe my memories are making it worse than it was or maybe I was just terrible (either is possible), but the combat made it a no go for me.

You didn't suck. The game sucks.

I will put up with DnD RNG "you miss you miss you miss you hit you miss" bullshit in a sprite-based game like Fallout, but in a fully 3D game like Morrowind that shit is unacceptable. Oblivion may have been bland slurry but it improved the combat system by actually letting it rely on player skill.

I did like Oblivion better, though I found it a bit bland too. The combat was improved at any rate so at least I could play, I just didn't particularly want to...

I didn't think it was awful, but I don't get why people say it's immersive and that it has great characters. It has great backstory... but no characters. Not one besides the quest-related ones has any distinct personality, and when the quest-related ones do it's either condescendingly didactic or "a douche". They just throw exposition at you and nothing feels lived in.
