Are you serious? I'm in teaching and every school I know is begging for Special Ed teachers. If your area is that bad I suggest moving. I mean, you do have a credential, right?

I am certified to teach in two states. But honestly every experience I have had has been awful. No support from the school at all. I did my college internship, then subbed, then worked as a teaching assistant. Maybe I am just really unlucky but every teacher I have worked with (two different states, different genders/ages/background) have been terrible. Just worksheets, no control, and angry students.

I find it's different school to school. Maybe you should research schools or districts that specialize in Special Ed? Maybe then you'll the support you desire.

Or maybe go for private schooling, rather than public?
