Right? I was trying to figure that out, but only ended up with more questions. What is it about Kristoph's crimes that's locked in his subconscious? The only idea I've got is that he hasn't admitted to himself that maybe his inability to get over being fired by Zak Gramarye had more to do with him than it did to do with Zak or Phoenix. I don't find that explanation completely satisfactory, though.

Yeah, same. Feels more like it was a convenient plot device to keep Phoenix from learning too much too soon, with a half-assed explanation on WHY those locks would be unbreakable. It's great that we got a better explanation about black Psyche-locks in DD, but... I still can't really figure out how that would apply to Kristoph.
