above anon, I wasn't on my computer and my phone never lets me log into DW for some odd reason.

yeah, characterization is tough, but tbh this series isn't particularly heavy on characterization at all. Since there are entire chapters devoted to fighting and nothing happening and stuff, so it's kind of hard to get a handle on them sometimes...
