And really this is a situational thing. Sometimes high heels are best, sometimes they are a horrible choice and boots win hands down.

I love boots with heels because I'm more stable than in stilettos (obviously.)

I would like to see OP's reality where men and women all walk around in heels daintily together.

I think both are sexy as hell, but high heels are typically a bad idea for me. I have so much trouble walking in those fuckers. Boots (with heels, without heels, whatever) are much more comfortable imo.

And while they might not be 'fancy', tennis shoes ftw. Also, there are some adorable flats out there, don't dismiss flats.

Flats are awesome.

I live in hiking boots, and have never worn heels in my life except for one inch ones for the single dressiest event I've ever attended. I don't even own any, I had to borrow those, and that practically at gunpoint (my aunt has very FIRM ideas of what a girl should wear at certain events in her life).

High heels are bizarre alien devices. Boots are an extra layer of feet. No contest, sorry.

High heels are so stupid. They are dangerous (you can easily break your ankle wearing them), they are uncomfortable, they make you look ridiculous. Why? WHY?!

I think there's a line between wanting to look pretty and trying too hard. High heels are on the trying too hard side. Anything that makes you uncomfortable is trying too hard.

What if they're not uncomfortable? I'm on my feet eight hours a day at work and I wear heels. Why? Because I walked on my toes from when I learned to walk and my hamstrings are shortened because of it. Walking flat-footed LITERALLY becomes painful after a bit.

Also 'makes you look ridiculous' is a random standard. I think Uggs look ridiculous, or Crocs. or people who wear those weird calf length flowy pants with knee high boots.

But as long as no one else makes me wear those things, what does it matter if they do? I'm not making someone else wear heels (or like them), but to me they're not uncomfortable or ridiculous looking.

Heels make me taller! But they're dangerous and painful. And boots are just so great! So pretty. I like boots.

Okay no. I draw the line here.

If I want to stomp on a pile of dry leaves in the fall, heels just ain't gonna cut it.
