How would you compare your situation in life with where you thought you'd end up or what you thought you'd be doing?

Eh.

I honestly didn't expect to be in grad school this long. However--looking at it objectively--I'm on a fast-paced program that'll have me finishing a history phD much faster than most, especially considering I didn't have to get a masters elsewhere first. I'm also fully funded, so I didn't go into further debt for grad school.* Assuming everything goes well I'm going to become Dr. Chardmonster the semester I turn 30. That's pretty damn good.

But I didn't think I'd be a student still. Or at least I thought being a student would be different. But I have little to complain about right now. Unfortunately I'm an academic so boy can I over-analyze that little bit.

*NEVER GO INTO A HUMANITIES PHD PROGRAM UNFUNDED THAT'S CRAZY IT'S TOO BIG A RISK SERIOUSLY NEVER DO IT
