Well, as I said to the anon above, the traditional MMO is on its way out.

It's not too late to get into WoW, but don't expect to spend a long time with it; I suspect they'll keep it going as long as it can until the hassle of running it begins to outstrip the profit. I really don't expect it to last more than a couple years -- even if they switch to microtransactions like they're talking about I think we're seeing the game's twilight years. It doesn't help that what's left of the fanbase, though very loyal, tends towards the creepy -- WoW at its peak had a very diverse playerbase, but as most of them have moved on, what's left tend to be the dregs. So be warned going in.
