Re: Weirdest things you said/thought while you were high

(Anonymous) 2014-02-26 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
I once took more LSD than I intended to, and a ways in (past where language broke down into the unpronounceable protosyllables of the collective unconscious) I began experiencing what's sometimes known as ego-death, the total loss of one's sense of self. Specifically, it became increasingly likely that I was not and had never been a human being limited to a conventional-spacetime perception of reality, but that I was an infinite and timeless being of energy that had chosen to manifest as a human being temporarily for the infinite-energy-being equivalent of shits and giggles.

Fortunately, I went to a very good college, and I remembered advice for this situation I'd read in the student handbook. While not attempting to discard or argue against the infinite-energy-being hypothesis, I reminded myself that I did have a specific memory of taking a powerful hallucinogen recently because I thought it would be interesting to do so, and it was possible that this was a side effect of said drug. Thus, the most prudent course was to give it some time, and enjoy how interesting it was in the meantime. If I was right that it was the drug, then it would wear off in several more hours, and if I was right that I was an energy creature outside of time, then it was no skin off my ass to wait a few hours.

Anyway, long story short, turned out it was the drug.
