Heh, my friend borrowed one of my AA manga anthologies before playing the game and figured the series was BL.

It's amazing how hard the series hits you over the head with these two's feelings (Edgworth's being "unnecessary) about one another, so of course it's going to get transmitted in the manga.

When I played the first game, I wasn't aware of the fanbase or the premise, other than it was a cult hit. So as soon as I got deep into the game, it was like there was no turning point where I couldn't say that my lawyer guy was so in love with that other lawyer guy. It's RIGHT THERE IN THE TEXT.

I also got into AA only knowing it was some kind of cult hit, that the internet loved it, and the gameplay was supposed to be really funny.

Then I actually played it and got hit by the shipping. I was hooked. They tease shipping for so many of the characters - not just Phoenix/Edgey, although that's their main shipping arc. For nearly every pairing you can think of there's a throwaway line or two, of the 'wow, they look good in that suit!' or 'if that's what you're into, I'll see you later' or 'why do I have all these feelings!?' variety.

I ship every character in multiple ways. They sure know how to make a thing fun.

Ace Attorney yay!

Yes! I may not see every ship, but I can bet there's an essay for just about everything that will pitch an argument so I understand it at least. And you're right about the lines. Sure, you can take them as offhand and gen comments about deep friendship and casual observations, or take all the way to open flirting and confessions. Hnnnngh yes

And even the crack ships can be validated by someone going on forever on why the characters complement each other. Manfred von Karma and Gant, Wocky and Vera... Huge cast makes it really conducive for fandom of course.
