I don't know about Eastern Canada, but from a Western Canadian perspective I also feel like Tim Hortons really appeals to a middle class, more rural demographic, as a place to get a fast cup of coffee, that isn't somewhere fancy like Starbucks, but still seems more classy than somewhere like McDonalds. (At least that's what I think explains the endless drive-in lines at Tim Hortons you see over here)

Seemed just as popular in the cities. But, yeah, I was in Western Canada.
