It might be just because I'm old, and her standup is now about women and aging, but a few months ago I caught a routine by Joan Rivers and I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard. Joan on the red carpet? No. Joan doing standup? Yes, please. I was astonished at how funny she was (again--it may be funnier to me at my age than it would have been to me twenty years ago.)
