I don't remember where I read it, but I recall reading a comment or journal entry from someone who was theorizing how their various OTPs would react to the other half's death, and their entry for Starsky and Hutch was that they were the only ones who would become suicidal in response, but that Starsky would just stop caring about himself and take risks until someone killed him, while Hutch would calmly and quietly go home and eat his gun.

Even without shipping, that sounds pretty reasonable to me. I usually roll my eyes at all the ~not being able to live without their soulmate~ stuff in fanfic, but for these particular characters, I can't really imagine anything else.

Considering Starsky's very passive and depressed response to his girlfriend's death, I'm not sure I buy that characterization.
