Sometimes a topical cream really is the best treatment, especially when it comes to getting the medication directly to the source of the problem. Also, it's not loss of blood you have to worry about with rectal bleeding, it's possible infection or other nastiness that ensues when you don't treat the issue.

The easiest way to put anything into your anal cavity is to lay on your side with your knees pulled to your chest. Squeeze a good amount of cream onto the applicator and insert it as slowly as you need for comfort.

Honestly, you've probably had poops three times the size of that applicator. You'll be fine, just relax.

Also, if the blood is dark in colour, it's from higher up than haemorrhoid land, and you'll need to have a camera stuck up there instead.
