I haven't been in the fandom much recently, but I've been having a lot of cravings. Who out there is writing really, really good Harry Potter fics, currently or in the past two/three years? Slash recs would be awesome, but anything that's top-quality is appreciated.

I, uh, don't come here often, sorry if I'm doing it wrong.

I really like 'The Boy Who Only Lived Twice' by lettered (http://archiveofourown.org/works/330906). Saras_girl (http://archiveofourown.org/users/Saras_Girl/pseuds/Saras_Girl) writes long as fuck romance novels that are excellent, detailed and wonderfully sappy. I just read 'Turn' a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Both these authors write Harry/Draco. asecretchord has been writing good Snarry. Of theirs. I like 'Final Examination' (http://archiveofourown.org/works/813867) the most.

Not slash, but 'The Never-ending Road' is a great girl!Harry (future Snarry). It's a WIP, but it's over 300k words already and regularity updated. http://archiveofourown.org/works/536450

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Can I ask why you want current/recent fic? Because in my experience, most of the really good fic was written a bit earlier than that, and I can direct you to some archives and rec lists of them, but I'm not really aware of recent fic.

I was heavy duty into HP fandom when it was in full swing, so I've read (or at least bookmarked) a lot of the classics, and I'm aware of many of those resources you're talking about. I'd specifically like to find fics I won't have seen and people who are actively updating.

Ah, I was hoping other people would rec because HP is the fandom I can always go back to and I love reading new fic. :(5

Well, thank you for your recs! It'll be nice to have some stuff to read through when the mood strikes. :)

But yeah-- HP used to be everywhere and I would've gotten more suggestions than I could handle! It's not exactly a "dead" fandom, simply because it was such a behemoth, but it's certainly quieted down in the years since the books and films ended.

snape_potter comm is still active, still puts on several fests a year and still has a number of consistently good authors contributing to the fandom. You might want to check out their masterlists from the last few fests. I'd be amazed if you didn't find something there to read and enjoy.

suitesamba's Nobody's Saviour really appealed to me. It's a Snarry fic.

Hit The Ground Running by Tozette is a great AU, though it's still in progress, about if Harry had started hearing the Horcrux in his head before ever making it to Hogwarts.

And When In Doubt, Obliviate, by Sarah1281, is older than the other two (it was written in 2011, so I don't know if that's too old for you) but it's a Harry-raised-by-Lockhart story which manages to make Lockhart likeable without changing the fact that he's a serial oblviator who takes the credit for things other people have done.
