One of the most annoying things was the response of my school. They cancelled classes for two days...and then they emailed us informing us that we would have Saturday classes to make up for it. ?????? because apparently it's the law (that you have to have a certain number of minutes spent in class, but it's apparently not the same if a teacher cancels class because they're sick or have a conference or w/e) and then they said "after this we will develop a contingency plan for situations like this"
and I'm like wtf, you didn't already have one? this is INDIANA. most of our winters are doable, but sometimes we get hit hard. It's happened before in living memory. how did you not have a plan in place for this??? we have plans in place in case we get hit by a TORNADO, but not a bad winter storm?
also, apparently the entire Midwest is running out of salt :| because we used enough in the first six weeks of 2014 to equal what would ordinarily last two winters.
