Is there something you can't eat without something else?

(Anonymous) 2014-03-02 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Things that go together so well in your head; like cookies and milk, that it feels weird to eat the other without other.

I was at my father's place last weekend and he made reindeer and I was excited because I can't afford reindeer meat on my own. But horror of horrors, we didn't have mashed potatoes with it. We had regular potatoes. I've never had reindeer with regular potatoes. It felt weird, and was not as good. :(

What are regular potatoes for you?

Pizza without soda - preferably diet coke - is just strange to me. It just does not work.

Boiled.

Oh yeah, pizza without soda is weird.

Milk!

Drinking straight milk is awful, but it goes well with a lot of different things.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-02 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I agree! I sometimes drink just milk when my teeth are aching, and it's always awful.

Are you me? Reindeer, mashed potatoes and lingonberries belong together, but with moose meat I can eat regular or mashed potatoes.

Blood pancakes also need to have a decent amount of lingonberry jam.

Re: Is there something you can't eat without something else?

(Anonymous) 2014-03-02 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, pretty much. Except I don't really do berries with my food. I don't like jam even in desserts.
With moose I guess it would depend on what form it would be. Steak, sauteed or what. Mashed potatoes are still preferable.

Peanut butter on toast without milk is THE WORST

I will have to take your word for it. I've never had peanut butter.

cheese.

I dislike almost all kinds of cheese by themselves, but there are a few I will eat with other foods in specific situations.

basically 90% of this is pizza

You sound like my brother. Though with him it's 100% pizza. He won't eat cheese with anything else. Ever.

I will eat quesadillas made with Colby Jack cheese (and I have to cook them myself) and sometimes ravioli, and I will eat Parmesan cheese on a lot of things as well as by itself (only cheese I will eat by itself). Other than that, yep, just pizza. I'm not really a big dairy person in general - I like some dairy-ish things that have other flavors, but weird thing is I also don't mind skim milk, so I think what it comes down to is I don't like the taste of milkfat. :/

Ditto. I like mostly Italian cheeses on pizza and pasta and that's about it. I don't like cheese by itself at all.

I have to eat grilled cheese with tomato soup. Not by itself and no other soup will do.

Some sort of soda goes with pizza.

OMG yes. That's what I made myself for lunch today. Our school cafeteria always used to to make tomato soup with ham and cheese sandwiches, and grilled cheese with chicken noodle soup. It was a crime against humanity. No body could tell them otherwise either, because they'd just give you a weird look.

Ice cream with water to wash it down.

I like soy sauce or, like, stir-fry sauce or something comparable on my broccoli. I first started doing it because it perked up cheap frozen broccoli, but now I prefer broccoli like that. Although the combination of cheese and broccoli is apparently popular, I find it disgusting. I am a bit particular about the applications of cheese. For the most part, I don't want melted cheese on vegetables unless it's in a pasta dish (veggie lasagna) or something like that.

If I'm having vodka, I usually grab some curly fries to go with it.

If I'm going to have fried fish, I've gotta have fries and ketchup with 'em. I also must agree with the assertion that pizza + soda = OTP. Additionally, the only reason I buy Doritos anymore is so that when I make chili and rice I can crumble up the chips and mix them in with the shredded cheese. Delicious.

I need to drink something with every meal. I can't just eat food by itself, it feels disgusting.

You can't have Cincinnati chili without oyster crackers and shredded cheddar cheese.

You can try but plain saltines are somehow just wrong.

Milk is the standard "go with" to several foods I won't eat otherwise. Cold cereal. PBJ sandwiches. Canned chili. These all require a glass of milk. The chili also requires either saltines or oyster crackers.

Also Oreos & similar sandwich cookies.
