Re: Trying to wipe and get rid of a computer

Does your old PC have a floppy drive? I use Darik's Boot and Nuke (http://www.dban.org/) all the time for our work computers that we're retiring. You can load it onto a floppy, USB or CD. If one of those methods works for you, then the program will load itself and will overwrite your data with blanks.

Alternately, you can remove your hard drives and run them to a computer that does work, and run Boot and Nuke from there; however, if you're feeling not "computer whizzy" enough for that - remove the hard drives and smash with a hammer or drill holes in em. That'll do it.
