Right. I was thinking manipulated into being his murder wife, since that was definitely not of any natural volition.

I'm pretty sure that being with Clarice suppresses his urges at the end.

That does not in any way indicate that his murderous impulses are suppressed.

The book states that Hannibal couldn't force her to do anything she didn't want to do and that he had no control over what the final result would be. A lot of it was helping her deal with her issues like her feelings about her dead father.
