Well, part of the confusion's probably in your phrasing. Saying "the Earth doesn't revolve around the sun" isn't quite the same as "the centre of the Earth's orbit is not (technically the sun". It'd be a bit like telling people "San Francisco isn't in California" when what you REALLY mean is "San Francisco isn't the capital of California".

But frankly, even if you were to clarify, it'd sound pedantic and hair-splitting at best because characterising this subject from a physics point of view is not common knowledge.
