Who do these hands belong to?

(Anonymous) 2014-03-04 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Your mom.

JUST TELL US THE NAMES OF THE MOVIES ALREADY.

Jeez.

I get that sometime you don't want to mention the fandom name for whatever reason, or to perhaps make a secret just for those "in the know".

This background image, however? I feel that it's so vague and nondescript that even other fans probably won't recognize it.

Aw, right on, OP! Hand/other hand is my OTP too.

It's the Hobbit films.

[personal profile] vethica 2014-03-04 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
And the pairing is Kili/Tauriel.

Thank you! You are a life saver. Or at least a several minutes of frustration saver. Which is not as glamorous, but far more useful in a day to day situation.

Well color me impressed. I'm not in the fandom and that seemed like such a random picture of generic hands I'm impressed you knew it right off!

(Anonymous) 2014-03-04 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
My first thought was scissors/paper, and I was like "oh man, I never even thought of shipping stuff like rock-paper-scissors! Rock* on, OP!"

*No pun intended, for once in my life.

Kili Tauriel

(Anonymous) 2014-03-04 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
According to reverse image search.

I thought the subject line was "Kill Tauriel" at first and thought, "Hm, why so angry?" LOL

Tell me about it. McLefty/Righto is my main ship, but it's so hard to bring it up without jerkwads trying to ride your ass for it. Yeah, I get that McLefty gets paired up with her sister McRighty more often, but my ship is not in the way of it because it's its own separate thing in my headverse.

And oh my god every time someone mentions Righto's controlling hypocrite aspect, how he is always making McLefty shave the hair on her fingers, while he gets to keep his fuzz, I want to slap a clown. Guess what, folk? It's fantasy kink, not irl! If it wasn't for the photomanips, I'd be outta this fandom jfc.

reverse image search says this is kili/tauriel from hobbit

(Anonymous) 2014-03-04 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Before I went to the comments and saw this was Kili/Tauriel I thought this was a secret about some arthouse film series about a pedophile in a relationship with a small child based on the size difference in the hands and the contents of the secret.

(Actually, there's a chance that IS a child's hand in the picture if Peter Jackson decided to do that bit without CGI - bad image choice OP)

I'm a little confused about the size of the hands.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-04 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Shouldn't Tauriel's be larger? Unless hers is the one on the right.

Re: I'm a little confused about the size of the hands.

^ I meant left.

Re: I'm a little confused about the size of the hands.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-04 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
I think the dwarves in LotR/The Hobbit have pretty large hands in relation to the rest of them. But yeah, it is pretty weird.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-04 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Huh, am I the only one who immediately recognized the screenshot without having to look it up? I've clearly seen that movie too many times.

Anyway, OP, I actually agree with you on every point, except that I enjoyed the films from the start and the pairing was a surprise. Polarizing? Sure, but I got lots of shrugs to dole out to haters.

Nah, I knew it immediately too.

But I think to folks who like the ship, and who maybe see oodles of gifsets of it, this is The Iconic Image for the ship (it gives me warm fuzzies), so it's pretty recognizable. But I guess to folks who don't care, not so much.

Now I know it's relevant to my interests...

I went into DoS looking for excuses to ignore this pairing, because I already had an OTP for one half. I don't mind if you like it, as long as you don't mind if I don't. :)

(Anonymous) 2014-03-04 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It took me a minute to realize DoS stands for Desolation of Smaug, not Department of Secrets.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-04 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
That scene makes me laugh so much. He has such stubby, lumpy hands with ragged, dirty nails through so much of the movies, and then comes the romantic hand-holding and all of a sudden they're so beautiful.

[personal profile] truxillogical 2014-03-04 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, I'm a huge LotR fan, and the Hobbit has been my go-to comfort book since I was ten...but honestly, seeing stuff about that pairing was the thing that made me finally go, "Okay, I guess I need to see DoS."

I liked 'em.

(But really, the Hobbit movies just mostly leave me feeling "meh.")
