but I just know that the sex of characters doesn't, ultimately, make a difference between my liking something or not, personally. I like some female characters, I like some male characters. There are some characters I could gladly do without, despite disparity in numbers between sexes.

There's nothing wrong with OP being more interested in female characters, but if people want to gush about their fictional crushes (of any kind), I don't see the problem with that either. (I mean, you're allowed to be annoyed by it...but it's still harmless.)
