The bun who just does whatever he wants? When we first met him, he was literally paralyzed with fear in a shelter crate, too scared to even eat the tasty greens we brought for the occasion of meeting him. He would flail around in terror if you tried to pick him up and hold him, or put him somewhere higher than the floor - really obviously scared of heights. Now he just sprawls all over the place, doesn't move even if you're about to step on him (I have to be very careful where I walk), and jumps up on my bed so he can get onto the window shelf and get at anything up there that smells interesting. He'll hop right over me to do so.
I feel honored that they trust me enough to defy me. They're soft, cute, herbivore creatures that are traditionally seen as prey - and they're not the slightest bit afraid of the giant omnivore who shares their space. =)

(Anonymous) 2014-03-05 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)Oh man, that's awesome. Cheers to you for giving him a second chance in a loving home.
I just had one die a couple months ago, that we figured was about 15 years old. She was totally fearless. I always keep my rabbits and dogs separated just to be safe rather than sorry, but one time I accidentally let one of my dogs into their area and she just charged right up to the dog, head up as if to say, "What the hell are YOU doing in here?"
She was also so mad one time after I clipped her claws, that she took the raisin I offered from my hand and SPIT it out at me. LOL So much attitude.

And I used to worry about having cats in the same household as free-roaming buns, but every single time, if anyone has been afraid of anyone else, it's the cats who find the rabbit terrifying, while the rabbit's like "so, 'sup, tiny-ears? HEY DON'T DRINK MY WATER OR I WILL EAT YOU."
