The Winchesters are the only people he knows in the world, and they saved the world, he is proud to know them – but they seem content to know only each other. He has fulfilled his function, the orders have stopped coming, and what good is he to anyone.

Belong Castiel sees Sam and Dean in a compromising position. His reaction is a complex one. He goes to return Dean's pendant.

kick off your shoes and lay down The only people allowed to touch Sam after he gets his soul back are his brother and an angel, and when they are touching him is the only time that he really feels whole.
