... oh, nice. Thanks for the tip! It's been immensely frustrating to deal with this. This happened once before- about nine years ago, in a different and very tiny fandom where I WAS something of a BNF. I had so much support from friends there. Now that I'm in a HUGE fandom working with a very tiny ship, it gets difficult to deal with without alienating those few who also share interest in the pairing. :/

Very true. Unfortunately, it'll probably happen no matter how you deal with it. Plagiarists with supporters never seem to want to give in gracefully and admit they're wrong, but once it all starts the people who're smart will quickly figure out the truth for themselves. I wish you the best in this.
