I have to admit that I've always thought they are quite simple. There are much more complicated to read books written recently.

A friend of mine is a fan of BBC Sherlock and recently read the ACD books and stories, she feels they are really simplistic and not very good! I don't agree with her as I've always liked them, but they are very simple and straightforward.

I agree with your friend. I was given Sherlock stories in middle school and quickly abandoned them because I thought the mysteries were too easy.
