Yeah, I get that.

I just like that you used the word loutish. That's such a good word. Loutish.

Uncouth is good too.

Ditto on the B!S

Agreed.

I still enjoyed it even into the end, but...it could have been so much better.

Still not bad as Earth: Final Conflict.

I loved this show but it did take a nosedive at the end. I got to meet Lexa Doig and Gordon Michael Woolvett at a con and I completely ignored Sorbo. I got a little bit of satisfaction out of that. /shallow

I love you just a little bit for that. <3

I remember loving this show, then I lost touch with it, and from what I heard I'm glad I did.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-07 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
This show really did go downhill. Once the blonde android was introduced, the quality plummeted.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-07 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
I was so sad when Trance wasn't purple anymore.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-07 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Loved the show. I try to pretend the final season with the blonde android didn't happen (I know part of why she was introduced was to work around Lexa Doig's pregnancy, but still...).

(Anonymous) 2014-03-07 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Now I feel strange that like this show. There were some bad episodes, but overall it wasn't that terrible. And Sorbo seems nice. Rhade's hot...
I also love Star Trek Enterprise which is apparently the least favorite in the internets.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-07 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
I like the show too, it's cheesy fun. I like Hercules as well.

I agree with the others though in that the last season took a nosedive, but if you want you can ignore that season pretty easily.

I also agree that Sorbo is a jackass (read a few things about stuff he's said) but he's not really enough of an ass that it effects my enjoyment of those shows (I was always in it for side characters anyway.) If I had to quit things based on actors being assholes then I wouldn't have much to watch...

(Anonymous) 2014-03-09 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
So true about quitting. Sometimes the less you know about an actor the better.
I'm glad I'm not alone! I like Hercules and it was on TV at a convenient time for me. )

(Anonymous) 2014-03-07 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorbo is an ass, like...to the point a large majority of the Hercules fandom actively dislikes him because of the crap he's said and done.

Enterprise was great...until they started pulling in the time travel crap, imo. But yeah - the first part of it was one of my favorite treks.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-07 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
What has he said and done? I want the dirty details.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-09 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Time travel is a pet peeve of mine, however I liked that alien, who looked like Voldemort in a salmon skin tight jumpsuit in that story arc... was he called Silian?
Anyway, most of my fave episodes are in the first half, so I definitely agree with you here.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-07 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
I loved this show so much in it's first season or two. I never knew what was going on BTS until years later and why it went downhill so badly. I did watch it till the bitter end though and agree that Trance was better purple.

There was some really solid stuff in the first 1-2 seasons. Plenty of cheesy fun, and a bit of interesting SF and genre subversion too. I pretend the rest of it doesn't exist, my own personal Highlander.

I know it's you Steve

(Anonymous) 2014-03-07 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm actually glad you take it on yourself to personally submit 20 secrets a month every month just so technophile has something to post. The community is definitely more fun since you inspired so many others to discuss '90s Trek and B-type sci-fi. But you and your style cannot escape my eye...

What's the story here? Who's Steve?

- OP, who is not Steve, but does love B-type sci-fi

Commenting with my Trance rp journal, just because I can, and I'm too lazy to log out. Not like my opinion of S5 is a secret. XD

I agree with everything except the retro-active ruining of Hercules (but only because Iolaus is totally the best thing on that show anyway). There was SO MUCH TO WORK WITH in the first couple seasons, and then it just... became The Dylan Show. S5 should have never been, and I cheerfully ignore its existence whenever possible. S3 and S4, my favorite eps were the ones written by people who actually cared about the characters, like GMW's Abridging the Devil's Divide.
