I know that feeling. :(

I feel happy, weirdly, when I'm blogging at lang-8. It's a website for people studying new languages - basically, you make a blog post in the language you're studying, even if it's three basic easy sentences. Then, native speakers comment correcting you, and usually give encouragement. I study Japanese through it, and I get so many replies and friendly remarks. I don't know, it makes me happy, I feel like I'm improving a skill that will be there even when my real life friends aren't.

That sounds really awesome! Not OP, but thank you for mentioning this.

ayrt

Yeah, I can't recommend it enough! It's totally free. The hope is that you will write posts for native speakers of that language to correct, but in return, you will use your language skills to correct other people's posts. So I blog in Japanese, and Japanese native (or high level fluent) speakers correct my stuff, but I correct people who are studying English.

It is wonderful, and free! It relies off of its community to correct each other. So I write in Japanese, and fluent Japanese speakers correct my sentences. But in return, I correct people's English.

I can't say about other languages, but there are a ton of Japanese users on the site, too. Very active!
