(Anonymous) 2014-03-07 12:27 am (UTC)(link)I feel happy, weirdly, when I'm blogging at lang-8. It's a website for people studying new languages - basically, you make a blog post in the language you're studying, even if it's three basic easy sentences. Then, native speakers comment correcting you, and usually give encouragement. I study Japanese through it, and I get so many replies and friendly remarks. I don't know, it makes me happy, I feel like I'm improving a skill that will be there even when my real life friends aren't.

The hope is that you will write posts for native speakers of that language to correct, but in return, you will use your language skills to correct other people's posts. So I blog in Japanese, and Japanese native (or high level fluent) speakers correct my stuff, but I correct people who are studying English.
