Question for other people with tiny/dying fandoms
I write a fic, and at least try fan art for Last Exile. Mostly however I post plot bunnies, and have a "monthly fan challenge." I post three prompts some times just one word prompts sometimes more than that. There aren't any deadlines or anything, it's just putting something out there that might inspire people.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-07 04:51 am (UTC)(link)I also sometimes talk up my fandom to friends I really think might be interested in the hopes of helping it grow, but I have to be careful doing that because I don't want to become that annoying fandom friend who pesters everyone and their mother about OMG SHINY FANDOM JOIN NAO OR DIE!

Re: Question for other people with tiny/dying fandoms
(Anonymous) 2014-03-07 06:17 am (UTC)(link)-I'm the best (currently active) fan artist in my tiny fandoms, and while I don't get a whole lot of time to make fanart anymore I try to pump out a few pieces a year for each of them. When I had more time I also beta'd for people and did red-lines and critiques for any fanartists who wanted it.
-Over the years we've cultivated a fan-culture where every active fan comments on basically every piece of fanfic and fanart that gets posted. Even the terrible ones. Feedback encourages people to keep posting fic and art and 10 mediocre fics is better than no fic at all. Plus, someone who writes tons of self-insert High School AU fic when they're 16 might change gears in a few years to writing epic-length awesome fic if they're still having fun with the fandom.
-This is going to sound absolutely heretical, but OCs and self-inserts helped keep one of my tiny fandoms alive and fun. One of the DA clubs back in the day asked that every member draw their OC to be included in the banner, and people really got into it and made some really elaborate backstories and art for each other.
