and it is deeply yummy and so good if you have a cold or a sore throat. I also think it seems stronger when it's heated but IDK if that's just a perception rather than a reality.

Ethanol has a boiling point far below water (around 79C if I recall correctly), so it will actually start evaporating out of the solution long before the whole thing even comes to a boil. Hence the idea of distilled spirits.

However! When a liquid or a food is warmer fluid kinetics come into play, and make it easier for your body to absorb and digest it, so that process can occur slightly faster. Depending on how sensitive you are to ethanol, it might just be enough to be noticeable? I don't think anyone has done any studies on this specifically though, so I can't be too sure.
