Re: What is everyone doing this weekend?

Now that I have paid my traffic ticket and dealt with switching out the car that was totalled for a different working vehicle and taken care of the insurance and the registration and all those other adult things, I am thinking what I want to do is just lie in bed all weekend with some video games and candy and nice fizzy drinks.

Though probably what I will be doing is making more phone calls to the insurance company in hopes of getting the check for the wrecked car sooner, and making some Oreo truffles for my brother and sister-in-law as thanks for driving me around while I had no vehicle, and probably agonizing over things like how I'm going to pay my bills if that check doesn't come soon and how much my insurance costs are going to go up and so on. :/

Are insurance companies generally open on weekends? You can make some oreo truffles and eat some yourself (in bed with video games!).

Insurance companies sort of HAVE to have some people on weekends. After all, it's not like people ever die/houses catch on fire/cars get totalled in accidents on weekends, eh? :/ In this case, the claims guy I was working with in the aftermath of the accident specifically said I could call him 24/7 if anything came up, and gave me a number to call if I hadn't been contacted by today (which I haven't) about the title transfer. And then the other day my agent called to confirm the cancellation of the insurance on the old car and the policy should be switched to the new car, and he also told me to call if I needed anything - and that I could contact him, too, if I didn't hear about the title transfer by the weekend.

Basically the insurance folks have been absolutely amazing for me over the course of this whole thing. So was the dealer I worked with to get the new car, and a couple of the other dealers who helped me out when there was a minor crisis after he'd gone home. I have been surrounded by amazing, helpful people... except for the towing company, who are a gigantic pile of dicks and I want to slash the tires of every truck in their fleet.

And yeah, I have to admit that I wasn't planning on handing over ALL the truffles to my brother and his wife. ;) I actually was glad to have an excuse to make them for someone else, because I love them, but can't eat an entire batch myself before they start getting kind of dry and questionable...
