I've been recently violated in a sexual manner without my permission and it's been treated like a running joke by the people involved and everyone who sides with them. I don't know how much longer I can do this. I've never been more suicidal.

As far as I'm aware, it's legal to record any conversation as long as one of the people is aware the recording is going on, i.e., you.

Please don't let this destroy you, anon. Talk to someone who is completely neutral. Counselors work.

And in some states it's not legal to record any conversation where the other person is unaware their being recorded (unless of course it's the police doing the recording *eye roll*)

To use that recent case of the woman who recorded her former teacher confessing to sexually molesting her when she was in school for example and threw it up on YouTube. There were a lot of legal experts who pointed out the woman had violated California law by doing that, though most seemed to think that because of the circumstances, she wouldn't get in trouble (and as it turned out the teacher is now in jail facing sex charges of molesting not only the first woman, but apparently a second woman as well).

tl,dr: depending on where OP lives, she might not have any legal recourse sadly enough.

Jesus anon. That is horrible. Are you able to get away from these people? Is there someone you can go to who might be sympathetic and 'stand in your corner'? Is a crisis centre an option? Sometime they have support groups for those stuck in a situation.

Please don't kill yourself. Sexual assault is not a joke, and you need to talk to someone who won't treat it like one. I don't know what to say. Are your family and friends supportive?

I'm so, so sorry, anon. Is there a hotline in your area that you can call? Don't worry about taking up their time for something that isn't "bad enough," you deserve to be listened to as much as anyone else. If talking on the phone makes you anxious, you might be able to find a chat line.

There are people out there, who are not those shitty humans, who are rooting for you.

That's absolutely maddening. Holy shit. I am so sorry that happened.

Can you distance yourself from the assholes treating you like this? Can you tell them to cut it out? (I understand that might not really be an option if you have anxiety or if it's work related or something.) I hope you can find people who are supportive and understand sexual assault is NOT a joke.
