USA, Maine

I don't imagine there are many burning questions about Maine people have, but I'm bored so I'll throw this out there.

Are lobster rolls really a thing that locals eat, or is it a tourist thing?

Also, some family members of mine went bird watching in Maine and saw moose! Are there moose wandering around in like Maine suburbs and stuff, or is just because they were out in the middle of nowhere?

Lobster rolls are a real thing but anything lobster is definitely marked up and talked up for tourists. And only found on the coast.

I grew up in a small town (pop 2000 when I was little, has about doubled since then) and I think I've seen maybe four or five moose over the years? So not unheard of, but not super common. Definitely a higher chance if you're out in the middle of the woods. I mean we do have moose hunting season and it's pretty common for people to eat moose around here, so they're definitely around.

Heh, a couple weeks ago I would have had so many questions for you. *is writing a fic set in Maine.* But I think Google has told me all I need to know.

Ooh, where in Maine did you set it? I just read some article a few days ago that said Maine, and specifically the Portland area, was becoming a popular setting for books lately. Which seems so random to me.

Fictional coastal town (Haven), more specific location never specified. They've mentioned Portland once or twice, though, and implied that it's supposed to be nearby.

Ah ha. My top guesses were Haven or OUaT fandom.
