USA, Arizona

Lived here most of my life, both in the northern and southern parts. And before you ask, yes, there are some real douches in our state government, but I think every state has those (we may have more than our fair share).

I lived there for 2 years (moved away last year) and was really surprised by the people. They were nothing like I thought they would be based on some of the laws, state government, and Sheriff Joe.

Yeah, I think the ultra-conservative faction tends to be more zealous at showing up at the polls.

How is it like to live in a desert? How do you stand the high temperatures, and how do you sleep at night?

It's very dry, really (except for monsoon season) - we're almost always in some sort of drought condition. I like it, but then I'm not really fond of the cold. As for the temperatures, like anything else, you get used to them (well, sort of), but if we didn't have air conditioning (which almost everyone does), it would really suck (actually this can be a bit of a problem for some people because some buildings keep their temperatures at 65 to 68 deg F in the summer and coming in from 105 deg F outside can be a shock to the system). And getting in a car after it's been sitting in the sun for a while in the summer (and parts of the spring and fall) is no damn fun for anyone. But I sleep pretty well.
