I get scared when I'm home alone. I'm 24 years old, and I think I'm pretty practical. I've never been in a dangerous situation in my life. But as soon as I'm home alone, every creak and sound convinces me someone is here to kill me. I once convinced myself someone was hiding in my closet, and I was too afraid to check it until my roommate got home.

This is... really opposite from the kind of person I usually am. You'll have to take my word for it. :(

Sometimes I'm like that, but only when I'm in a house. It was such a relief when I moved out into an apartment and I realized that, unless Spiderman was going to assault me, there was only one point of entrance and it had an interior lock.

DA, but +1. I'm much more comfortable when there are people just a wall away, and I'm not sure why. Being not on the ground floor helps too.

I'll never see 30 again, and at the bottom of my heart, I will always fear that there's someone staring at me from out of every dark mirror, and that something below the stairs will grab my ankle whenever I go down them in the dark.

I think this is normal, anon. There are a few times a year when my husband goes away, and during those times, I get seriously freaked out at night.
