Take a few deep breaths and, if possible, go for a nice walk for half an hour or so. You cannot control other people's misapprehensions. If it helps, try imagining a sitcom laugh track going along with this wacky misunderstanding. The previous sentence sounds like a joke and is not. Seriously imagine that, and it may make the situation less scary for you.

You are not the bad guy, you are not hurting anyone, this is just a dumb communication screwup that's not really your fault in any serious way. Most of human history is dumb communication screwups, so you're in good company.
