(Anonymous) 2014-03-08 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)I don't know what it says about me that I remember him so well, lol.
But yeah, he was around before the move to dreamwidth, during season 5. He'd post on a lot of things IIRC, but he was especially active when it came to Who. He had loved RTD as show-runner (which, hey, a lot of people did; I myself preferred him to Moffat) and was very, very upset with the changeover, and he believed that Amy was a terrible role model because she wore short skirts and was a kissagram. And I was like, "how about you teach your daughter that, when she grows up, she can be whatever she wants instead of teaching her that there's something wrong with and less worthy about women who don't meet your standards?"
Ahhh. I guess it stuck with me because, as a woman, I found a lot of what he said to be really sexist and he just didn't see how it was. He thought he was the exact opposite, in fact.

That might be one of the dumbest comments I've ever read in regards to Amy. Amy is far from a terrible role model, especially considering the reasons given. Hell, if you wanted to say Amy was a terrible role model I'm sure you could come up with something better than "wears short skirts and was a kissagram". That's reaching. (Actually, that's pathetic, but some people are stuck in a different age.)
