(Anonymous) 2014-03-08 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)Honestly, I like Merida BECAUSE she looks so weird and cartoonish. Whereas the character designs in Tangled and Frozen fall right in the middle of the uncanny valley for me.
(Although I'm sure it's the other way around for some people, since this is a totally subjective thing.)

(Anonymous) 2014-03-08 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)Pixar is a little more familiar with 3d design then some of the old school Disney employees, so they designed Merida in a different way. I'm not a huge fan of Merida's design, but she IS more made for 3d then the Tangled and Frozen characters are.
