1, Rant of Extreme Hate
RoEH - Wow. Uh... take some valium or something.
Snape was a twisted and pathetic man, a racist who had no problem with an innocent child being murdered (if it had been Neville and not Harry he wouldn't given two shits). Yes, he was seeking redemption, and the fact that on some level his shriveled black heart allowed him to have a spark of love... meant he got it in the end. But that doesn't ever excuse what he did, it doesn't excuse him for being an asshole to his students (not just Harry, everybody else who wasn't a Slytherin). It doesn't make him suddenly a GOOD PERSON, it makes him a person who got redemption in the end.
And James was three times the man he was. Yeah, he was a bully and a bit of a prat... WHEN HE WAS A PUBESCENT CHILD. How do those even remotely compare? (Whoo James/Lily. I'm not really in the HP fandom at all other than reading the books, but I ship it!)
I'm really amused at the sheer frothing bile in this rant more than anything XD

Snape is a fantastic character, but he's a terrible person. And that's EXACTLY what JKR intended.
I'm incredibly sick of seeing people defend him, because I feel like they're absolutely missing the point of his character.
It especially offends me because I am a long-time fan of James, who although he has issues, is a GOOD PERSON, and an excellent father.
