34. I don't think a person who is "just like" Light would actually come out and say it, is the thing - no wonder no one believes you. Maybe you identify with him (or your perception of him, or whatever), and maybe if you were in his situation you would have acted similarly. But as far as I'm concerned, if you ever actually tell someone you're like him, then congratulations, you've just proven yourself wrong.

That is, uh, a comforting thought! I hope you're right. I just can't help but think that a just KNOWING you're a sociopath and ceasing to be one are the same thing.

blah blah WANK blah blah ... *pokes self* this is why I posted it on fandomsecrets, because lord, explaining this stuff non-anonymously is like super-wanky. Heck, it's wanky explaining it anonymously.

Well, I really think that a lack of self-awareness is a big part of what makes a psychopath a psychopath (and I would consider Light more a psychopath than a sociopath). I'm not a psychologist or a behavioral scientist, but I just can't imagine Light, for example, telling someone that he's crazy and he's got everybody fooled.

Which is to say, part of being a psychopath (and a sociopath) is a loss of insight and a complete failure to conform to social norms, and I feel like when you come out and say "I am a sociopath/psychopath/etc." you're kind of working against that, I guess?

STFU, amateur shrinks. This is why psychology is seen as a pseudoscience, because every idiot thinks they can diagnose and contradict a professional diagnoses.

Someday, when I rule the world with my radical behaviorism super powers, I'm sending my little minions out to condition everyone to take psychology seriously.

Uh, I didn't know there was a professional diagnosis involved? If that's the case, I respectfully withdraw my comment. :) I didn't see anything like that in the secret, anyway, or in the OP's comment to me.
