I've met one too many 'sociopaths'.

News flash: Pretending you have no attachments and feelings doesn't make you cool. It doesn't make people think you're badass and dangerous like those dark and brooding animu characters. It makes you look like a huge loser.

I don't know why people think being a sociopath is 'cool'. There is nothing 'cool' about it. I was diagnosed sociopath 2 years ago. since then, because of medical insurance issues, I stopped seeing a therapist.

It's not about pretending to have 'no attachments', it's about pretending to HAVE attachments. It's one of those things where when I have a morbid thought like 'what if my friend died next Tuesday?' and the next thought is 'man, that would be inconvenient, I wanna go barhopping on Tuesday.' seriously. Isn't that sick? x__x;; And I worry about that, all the time.

I explain it to people as being 'like Light' because they don't know what 'sociopath' means. Which is why this is in fandomsecrets, because DAMN it drives me crazy when people compare themselves to anime characters and go OMG I'M JUST LIEK HIM on the internet.

And just to make it even more wanky, sociopathy is one of those things where no one can tell you you don't have it because supposedly it's so well-hidden that even psychologists don't always spot it. Which means that anyone claiming to have sociopathic tendencies (including me, anonymouse!) could basically go OMG YOU'RE WRONG! and how can you prove that you're actually RIGHT and they're just an emo bitch?

But again, that's why this is on fandomsecrets: so that I'm not in ur flist, wanking ur journal talking about what a godawful person I am.

Right on.

For the record, I have pretty much no investment in whether or not you're lying. I was actually more just ranting about people I've run into in my life. I don't know you -- if you're really a diagnosed sociopath, then I'm sorry. That's pretty terrible. I've just heard the "I'm just like XXX, I have NO FEELINGS!" line so many times that I've become pretty jaded.
